You Know Went To Southville International School When...
(1) you wondered why people would look at you strangely when you wore your uniform outside of school.
[yes, that happens a lot of times.](2) Your mascot is a butterfly.
[uhh... The MONARCH butterfly?](3) You had a so-called President who is British and doesn't seem to do anything.
[who is this?](4) It takes you an hour to go to school even though you technically live 10 minutes away (damned traffic).
[the traffic really sucks TT-TT Good thing there isn't much traffic in the College gate.](5) Corny jokes crack you up. The cornier, the better.
[Not really. The thing is, we laugh on how corny it is, not because the joke was corny.](6) When you weren't sure if [deleted]
[ehh?](7) When you got pissed when the canteen ran out of your favorite 'ulam.'
[luckily, the food court has more choices this year. ^^ so.... yeaaah.](8) You kept making barok jokes.
[uhhh... no.](9) You can still sing the entire Southville alma mater: "Come let us to Southville sing... Stars and hearts and laurels bring..."
[YES. XDDD It used to be "Grateful hearts and laurels bring... but then, where are the stars now?](10) Less than 10 percent of the graduating student body actually attends a university abroad. [currently being disputed]
[Actually, I agree with this. Even the Koreans in our class are planning to take up college here in the Phils.]11. during intramurals, the 4 high school grades turn against each other. sibling against sibling if it must.
[YEEEES. So true.]12. it's all about who wins the cheering competition.
[AND MORE YEEES. The games are actually just a plus? XDDD]13. the "SOF" (School of the Future) room you had classes in was just a room with chairs and a projector.
[I know. School of the Future >_> I like the mini theater better. It's more future-y.]14. it took a fourth of your computer class to load a web page.
[The internet in school is still slow... but it got faster than before. I can now watch in youtube with very minimal stops.]15. even with wi-fi installed in the buildings the internet connection is still damned slow.
[Yep.]16. most of the students weren't necessarily 'international,' just Filipinos of the slightly upper middle class or Filipino children born in other countries who came back to the Philippines when they were like, 3 yrs old.
[I am guessing we are "International" because we have Koreans.]17. you spent your afternoons trying to sneak past the guard so you could grab food from Select at the shell gas station.
[Puhahaha. Well, now we don't really have to, the food court improved.]18. you remember afternoons when your name would be blared several times over the speaker phone when your ride arrived
[And they'll even pronounce your name wrongly.]19. you remember parking/traffic was a bitch.
[*sigh*... so true, so true...]20. nothing was good in the canteen, so you got corned beef, heated flavored water (garlic soup) and two cups of rice.
[Hahaha! This applied to me last year. But as mentioned... more choices in the food court. ^^]21. AC doesn't just mean Air Con.
[Bwahahaha!!!! This one's really funny ^^]22. the Aquarium isn't just a fish tank.
[No idea what this aquarium is... but I'm guessing it's the Mini-botannical garden with the fish before? They removed it anyway. It isn't so botannical anymore.]23. you know Southville International School and Colleges isn't its complete title. It's Southville International School & Colleges, ISO-certified-WASC-accredited-IB-provider-affiliated-with-foreign-universities-school -of-the-future-by-DepEd--- (etc.)
[That's right.]24. one-half of the student body is composed of koreans. (it's true.)
[SO TRUE. There are like... 5 Koreans within a range of 2 square meters.]25. you wondered why non-catholics still had to attend the alternative class to religion (even though that class was still preaching Christian ideals).
[They reconstructed it just a month ago... now we call it RVED. Religion + Values EDucation... and divided it to 3. Don't make me explain, it's long. Maybe another time.]26. you cried when you found out that it was offering IB... ________ (input # of years) too late.
[I'm not planning to study abroad anyway....]27. If you didnt like the food in the canteen, McDonalds, Jollibee, Yellow Cab and KFC is ALWAYS a phone call away
[MCDonald's is always a phone call away when there are special late-night events like concerts... and the Mr. and Ms. SISC pageant... or when you just feel like it.]28. you ate your lunch during recess and your recess during lunch
[Haha! Most of my classmates do this... but my friends and I don't...]29. their idea of a fire drill is exploding something in the building
[Really?]30. in order to graduate, you have to complete PASS and the hallmarks.
[I already recited "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost... 3 more hallmarks to go. Oh, and the SISC Student Academic Integrity Code. I do hereby... blah blah blah...]31. there are some subjects where you are better off being taught by the Star Section
[???Really???]32. the reason why you arent paying attention in class is because you are too busy counting all your teacher's barok words. or playing some card game. or cutting your split ends
[First one was true. XDDD]33. Home Economics is an excuse to save your lunch money
[YES, IT IS!!!!]34. Schoolwork gets sloppy during second term because International Week is more important
[Yeeeah. It's like 1 week of preparation BEFORE Int'l week, then Int'l week, then 2 weeks of the Mid-year break. That's like... a month of no classes.]35. you have to file in line in order to get to class
[And you get squished in the lines because the stairs are too cramped.]36. "The value of the week is..."
[Bwahahaha. I'm done with my turn explaining what the value of the week during that week is.]37. Everyone participates in PE. no - this has nothing to do with the teacher .... :]
[I don't really get this though >_>]38. GOOD MORNING TEAM HIGH SCHOOL!
[Hehe, the ever-so-famous Sir AC line. You always hear this every single Monday morning ^^]39. You need to memorize a different poem for every grade level you ascend.
[Yes. Sr. Prep- I Can Fish in a..., Grade 1- All Things Bright and Beautiful, Grade 2- Trees, Grade 3- The Arrow and the Song, Grade 4- Invictus, Grade 5- If I Were A Voice, Grade 6- Success, Grade 8- If, Grade 9- Nobility, Grade 10- Can't, annd finally Grade 11- The Road Not Taken... I'm not really sure with the Sr. Prep one, but yeah. Oh, btw, these were the poems I HAD TO memorize. I think they changed the hallmarks of Sr. Prep-Grade 4 now....]40. "Good morneeng, children!" - Ms. Celsa Alojado
[The counterpart of # 38.]41. You're constantly thinking of new ways to get past the guard at the front gate.
[Bwahaha! Yes. I have a tactic anyway XDDD]42. The only school to have rows of computers with Counterstrike and other LAN games, inside the campus, accessible to students for 40 pesos for one hour!
[Boo. That's why I don't go there.]43. Out of all photocopying machines in the school, there is only one (or none) that works.
[THIS IS THE MOST ANNOYING ONE. It's so true. All the photocopiers are ALWAYS "Offline"]
44. being an athlete is an excuse to exit school "to go to the other side". (added from multiply.com)
[Really? I'm not in varsity... >_>]
45. Nothing looks better on a classroom than those purple, pink, and green blinds covering your windows.
[Ahhh... yes. You know you're in an SISC Classroom when you see these. ^^]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hahaha~~~
Well, at least there were A LOT of things that improved... LIKE THE FOOD COURT...
Projector thingys and computers in the 4th year classrooms...
Too bad I won't see Gym 3... It might be operational next year >_>
And I'm in college next year!!! XDDD
